Songs That Defined the Decade:

Girls' Generation's 'I Got a Boy'

"It was the first of its kind."

Regularly, listeners erroneously describe K-pop as a “genre” of music. But unlike Europop, the geographic notation of “K-pop” doesn’t immediately bring a single sonic style to mind. *Though many, many songs coming out of the South Korean pop scene have played with tonal shifts and BPM switcheroos, few have done so with such aplomb as Girls’ Generation’s 2013 hit “I Got a Boy” -- which is often compared to Queen’s tone-hopping epic “Bohemian Rhapsody” due to its pristinely chaotic approach to jumping between musical elements.

billboard magazine: With Outsize Streaming Influence, Indonesia's Potential Shines!

"While the Indonesian market is not as well known as Asian powerhouses like South Korea or Japan, its potential is luring major labels and forward-thinking international producers. Swedish hit-making collective The Kennel, started to compose songs for Indonesian artists as early as 2013."

The Kennel starts joint venture company in China.

As the powerful colossus China is now seriously starting to implement copyright protection, its revenue will of course increase avalanche.

The Kennel has, through many years of successful work on the Asian market, a huge opportunity in China. A joint venture company - TK Music - has been started together with the leading Chinese music company Taihe. The company will provide productions and place local copyrights. We become like a bridge between the western market and China and for our songwriters and producers this will mean lots of new opportunities. TK Music will work with the entire domestic Chinese market and we already have employees in Beijing working to pitch our roster and productions.
